In Summary

In a notice issued on Monday, July 14, KURA announced that the affected section will be partially closed from 10:00 p.m. on Friday until 11:00 p.m. on Monday, July 21.

Motorists using Jogoo Road and Nyasa Road in Nairobi should brace for a three-day traffic disruption starting this Friday night, July 18, as the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) embarks on culvert installation works.

In a notice issued on Monday, July 14, KURA announced that the affected section will be partially closed from 10:00 p.m. on Friday until 11:00 p.m. on Monday, July 21.

The agency has urged drivers to exercise caution, follow signage, and cooperate with traffic marshals and police officers who will be on-site to assist in managing the flow of vehicles.

“We regret any inconvenience caused and appreciate the public’s patience as we continue efforts to improve urban road infrastructure,” read part of the notice.

Meanwhile, sections of the Nairobi Expressway were also closed temporarily for 24 hours to allow for the construction of a pedestrian footbridge at Syokimau.

According to a statement by Moja Expressway Company on Saturday, July 12, the closure began at midnight on Sunday, July 13, and was expected to last until midnight on Monday, July 14.

Motorists headed to the Central Business District via the Mlolongo and Syokimau toll points were advised to exit at the SGR Interchange and rejoin at the SGR entrance, while those traveling toward Mlolongo were directed to use the JKIA exit.

The public was urged to plan accordingly, as the temporary closures are likely to affect traffic flow in the affected areas.

KURA, a statutory agency under the Kenya Roads Act of 2007, is tasked with the development and maintenance of urban trunk roads across the country.

With its headquarters in Nairobi and ten regional offices serving all 47 counties, the authority oversees a road network spanning over 4,600 kilometers of both paved and unpaved routes in urban centers.
